When HR and top management agree to this, they demonstrate they are not threatened by the idea that individuals can freely talk with the consultant on an anonymous and confidential basis. This reinforces that these employers are secure in their commitment to performance support and willing to allow for information about ongoing issues from the employee’s perspective to be shared with an outsider.
   
   Further, it illustrates the level of trust that develops between the coordinator and Alice – that it is understood that the chief liaison to the consultant will not ultimately control all communication on the account.
